Ministry to WPA Youth Workers
We are better together! Our vision is to see our district youth workers building community and working together. We, as a team, want to pour into youth workers (paid and volunteer, lead and support) and be a resource. Here are some things we are doing to accomplish that:
Regional Connections: We have divided our district into several regions that each of the DYC members care for. it is out goal to build relationships with each lead youth worker and be available to help them walk through ministry. DYC Regional Map.
Entice: A one-day gathering (every other year) of District youth workers for worship, fellowship and training. Generally, we have hosted this in conjunction with District Conference so as to maximize the number of youth workers able to attend. Keep an eye out for Entice 2020 as we are aiming to adjust the schedule to encourage our volunteer youth workers to come as well.
Ministry Workout: An every other year large-scale comprehensive District training event in which a designated slot is given for a youth ministry trainer to be present. Next MW is the fall of 2020.
Engage: A gathering of Alliance Youth District Point People with the Director of Alliance Youth to ingest vision to carry back to District youth workers for regurgitation and implementation. The WPA District has historically sent the DYC chairperson and other members of the DYC to this event.
• "WPA District Alliance Youth Ministry Leaders" Facebook Page: A space to connect with other WPA youth workers, network, and hear about WPA District events that are approaching, Have a question? Want to share a struggle or celebrate a win? Want to collaborate with others near you? This is the place to do that.
• Email and Instagram: The DYC has also created an email and Instagram account for anyone who has district youth questions; email WPAAllianceYouth@gmail.com and Instagram @WPAAllianceYouth.
• David and Jonathan Bonds: The vision of the DYC is to build comradery that goes beyond simply knowing the faces and names of our District youth workers to deeply connecting and supporting each other as we see in the friendship shared by David and Jonathan in 1 Samuel. The characteristics we desire to exist are deep bonds (1 Samuel 18:1-4), advocates (1 Samuel 19:1-7), selflessness/ humility/transparency, accountability (1 Samuel 20:13-17), trust (1 Samuel 20:41-42), and concern for the spiritual depth and growth of one another (1Samuel 12:15-18). We trust that these connections will be made organically and strengthened through regional connections so that every youth worker would have holistic support as they seek to minister in the name of Jesus.
