District Youth Commission

A group of youth workers who volunteer to thrust forth the vision of Alliance Youth in the community of Western Pennsylvania and partner together to increase and enhance ministry to the students of Western Pennsylvania.

The DC typically meets quarterly for face-to-face meetings to pray, plan, promote, and evaluate.

Ministry to Students in Western Pennsylvania:

Jolt Retreat:

A fall retreat designed for middle school students to experience god together and be challenged to walk in greater intimacy with Him.

Breakaway Retreat:

A spring retreat designed for high school students to come away from their normal routine to meet with God and grow in their walk with Him.

LIFE Conference:

A triennial national Alliance Youth Conference designed to expose our students to the heart of God and their place in His story, the vision and work of the Christian & Missionary Alliance, and the force that they can be for the Kingdom of God as they are obedient to Him. Our role from a DYC perspective is to make our churches aware of the conference and historically we have lined up District buses to transport churches together in a cost effective manner.

ENter:

A local mission project designed for middle school students that exposes them to the need around them (locally) and around the world (globally) and gives them opportunity to plug in and make an impact. It is being developed by the Alliance Youth office and hopefully be held in the Summer of 2017.

Ministry to WPA Youth Workers

ENter:

A one-day gathering (every other year) of District youth workers for worship, fellowship, and training. Generally the day prior to District Conference so as to maximize the number of youth workers able to attend.

Ministry Workout:

An every other year large-scale comprehensive District training event in which a designated slot is given for a youth ministry trainer to present. Next MW is 2016.

Connections:

"WPA District Alliance Youth Ministry Leaders" Facebook Page - A space to connect with other WPA youth workers, network, and hear about WPA District events that are approaching.

David and Jonathan Bonds - The vision of the DYC is to build comradery that goes beyond simply knowing the faces and names of our District youth workers to deeply connecting and supporting each other as we see in the friendship shared by David and Jonathan in 1 Samuel. The characteristics we desire to exist are deep bonds (1Samuel 18:1-4), advocates (1 Samuel 19:1-7), selflessness/humility/transparency, accountability (1 Samuel 20:12-17), trust (1 Samuel 20:41-42), and a concern for the spiritual depth and growth of one another (1 Samuel 12:15-18). We trust that these connections will be made organically and strengthened through regional connections so that every youth worker would have holistic support as they seek to minister in the name of Jesus.

Engage:

A gathering of Alliance Youth District Point People with the Director of Alliance Youth to ingest vision to carry back to District youth workers for regurgitation and implementation. The WPA District has historically sent the DYC Chairperson and another member of the DYC to this event.
